Three persons have been booked by the Navi Mumbai police in connection with a tragic incident involving a contractual employee of a state-run electricity distribution company. This employee, aged 32 and hailing from Mumbra in Maharashtra's Thane district, suffered a life-altering accident in June. It was only after three months of treatment and recovery that he was able to file a police complaint, leading to the registration of a case on Monday, as confirmed by an official from Turbhe police station.

The incident occurred on June 28 when the victim was assigned the task of repairing an electric pole in Pawane village. According to the victim's complaint, the lineman responsible for the task switched off the incorrect power supply breaker. Tragically, when the victim climbed the pole and came into contact with the wire, an explosion ensued. He fell from the pole, sustaining fractures in his hands and legs, along with severe injuries to the back of his head. During his treatment, both of his hands had to be amputated.

The complaint points fingers at the lineman, a section engineer, and the contracting company, alleging that they failed to provide the necessary personal protective equipment for the victim's work.

Based on this complaint, the police has registered a case against the lineman, the section engineer, and a director of the contracting company under Indian Penal Code Section 338, which pertains to causing grievous hurt by acts endangering the life or personal safety of others. A thorough investigation into the case is currently underway.
