A chain collision involving a police van, a private car, and two BEST buses occurred at the ICL signal (Arenja Circle) in Vashi at around 7 am on Friday, leaving significant damage to the buses and injuring the police van driver. The incident is currently under investigation.

According to a release, bus number 6627(KLD) on route 517/3 was en route from Santacruz station to APMC market when the collision took place. The police van bearing registration number MH-43-AQ-6786 was coming from Ghansoli when it collided with the front left side of the bus. The impact then caused the police van to crash into a nearby private car before colliding head-on with another BEST bus, number 1639(Mul), which was operating on route 512/5, traveling from Nerul to Mulund.

The collision resulted in extensive damage to both of the involved BEST buses. Furthermore, the driver of the police van sustained injuries and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities are now investigating the incident, and the process is aided by the availability of CCTV footage from the area. The footage will be crucial in determining the sequence of events leading up to the collision and establishing any possible contributing factors.

Earlier, in a separate incident, in the first week of July, two persons died in a fatal accident involving two Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses and an autorickshaw.
