All these days, we have heard of pregnancy detection kits, but now there is another addition to the 'kit' community. It is called beef detection kit.

According to a report by News18, Maharashtra police has reported that they have ordered 45 beef detection kits to detect cow meat in a short time span.

In regard to the functioning of the beef detection kit, Maharashtra forensics science laboratary director Krishna Kulkarni told to the website, "The kit will detect the proteins in the meat and give a result in 30 minutes. If the detector shows a change in colour, then the test is positive." If the test turns out to be positive, the sample will be taken to labs for further examination, the director added.

The beef detection kits will be carried by Maharashtra police in mobile vans. Also, around 100 cops will be trained on the kits’ operation. Kulkarni was quoted as saying, "Constables and officers with a degree in the field of science will be selected."
