Mumbai's Dharavi on Wednesday witnessed a sharp decline in Covid-19 with 51 new infections.

"Few days ago we were reporting over 100 cases in a day. Testing protocol has been changed under ICMR guidelines. Focus sample testing is being done," said G North ward’s AMC, Kiran Dighavkar.

On Wednesday, after witnessing a downward trend in daily cases and test positivity rate, Mumbai saw a sharp rise in both along with Covid-19 fatalities. According to the BMC, 16,420 people tested positive during the day with a TPR of 24.38 per cent. The virus claimed seven lives in the city. Across the state, 46,723 new cases and 32 deaths were reported.
