A woman fell into a duct filled with water at the site of Metro construction at D N Nagar Andheri. The video of the incident went viral on social media. The woman is alive and well, BMC officials have said.

Vishwas Mote, assistant commissioner of K West ward, said that the incident took place near the Andheri Goregaon Link Road at D N Nagar Metro Station. “The construction work of the Metro 2A project is going on at this place and hence the site is under the Metro 2A project. There is a cable duct of utilities,” said Mote. After the video went viral, the team from K west ward visited the place of the incident.
The two bamboo-like protrusions that appear in the video on social media are the cover of the cable and not bamboo sticks, civic officials said. “The lid of the utility cables has been removed by some anti-social elements. Although this place is under the Metro 2A project, for the safety of the citizens, the K West department has immediately installed a cover,” Mote said.
