Mumbai and its suburbs are likely to experience generally cloudy skies today, with a possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall and gusty winds.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, warning of isolated thunderstorms with lightning, moderate rainfall, and winds reaching 40–50 km/h.
Today, the city can expect a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius.
City's AQI in 'good' category
On October 27, the Central Pollution Control Board’s SAMEER app reported in its latest Mumbai weather updates that the city’s air quality in the 'good' category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 27 at 9.45 AM.
As per the SAMEER app dashboard, many areas across Mumbai showed 'good' AQI. Colaba, Worli, Borivali, Bhandup and Vile Parle recorded 'good' air quality, with an AQI of 57, 43, 29, 37 and 54, respectively.
Meanwhile, Powai, Malad, Andheri and Byculla recorded 'good' air quality, with an AQI of 47, 64, 42 and 33, respectively.
Bandra Kurla Complex recorded 'good' are air quality, with an AQI of 55.
According to data from the SAMEER app, Navi Mumbai recorded air quality in the 'good' category with an AQI of 41, while Thane registered a 'good' AQI of 33.
The air quality index from 0 to 100 is considered 'good', 100 to 200 'moderate', 200 to 300 'poor', 300 to 400 'very poor' and from 400 to 500 or above 'severe'.
Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remained in the very poor category on Monday even as the weather department forecast a partly cloudy with chances of very light rain towards the evening.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 17.3 degrees Celsius, 0.1 degrees above the season's average. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 29 degrees Celsius. At 8:30 am, the humidity level was 94 per cent.
As per the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) Sameer app, localities such as Bawana and Anand Vihar recorded severe air quality with Air Quality Index (AQI) readings of 401 and 431, respectively. Out of 38 monitoring stations across the city, 23 reported very poor air quality with readings above 300.
