Mumbai: Water supply to remain affected in following areas on October 9 and 13

On Saturday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that the water supply in the P/North, P/South, and R/South Ward areas will be affected in the coming week

On Saturday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that the water supply in the P/North, P/South, and R/South Ward areas will be affected in the coming week. According to the press release by BMC, the water supply will be affected in these areas on October 9th (Monday) and October 13th (Friday).


The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to replace the inlet and outlet valves at Malad Hill Reservoir, Malad (East).


As per the press statement by the civic body, a total of 10 water valves will be replaced due to age and damage.


"This replacement will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, 4 water valves, including butterfly valves of 900 mm dia. (3 nos) and 750 mm dia. (1 no.), will be replaced on October 9th, 2023 (Monday). In the second phase, 3 water valves, including two of 900 mm diameter (2 nos.) and one of 750 mm diameter (1 no.), will be replaced on October 13th, 2023 (Friday)," informed BMC.

"Water supply will be temporarily halted on October 9, 2023, and October 13, 2023, from 8 am to 12 midnight. A total of 16 hours of work is scheduled for each day in P/North Ward, Malad (East), P/South Ward, Goregaon (East), and selected areas of R/South Ward," added the BMC statement.

The following areas will experience water supply disruption in the P/North, P/South, and R/South wards:

- P/North - Malad (East) area
- P/South - Goregaon (East) area
- R/South - Bandongri, Zalwaad Nagar, Ashoknagar (part), Lokhandwala, Hanuman Nagar, Wadarpada - 1 & 2, Narsipada area of Kandivali (East)

"Residents in these areas are advised to store sufficient water in preparation for the planned interruptions. The BMC administration urges all residents to use water judiciously during this period," added the BMC note.
