The examination forms of TY B.Com students had not been submitted by their colleges

The Mumbai University has allowed 37 TY B.Com. students from two colleges to appear for the exam that started from Thursday despite their respective colleges not submitting their examination forms. The university will be initiating action against these two colleges for jeopardising the academic year of these students. Of these 37 students, 29 are from KLE Society’s Science & Commerce College in Navi Mumbai and eight students are from Lilavati Lalji Dayal Night College of Commerce in Girgaon, Mumbai.

On the eve of the semester five exams of TY B.Com that commenced on October 26, it came to light that examination forms of 37 students were not to be found. Officials of MU confirmed that the examination forms for these students were not submitted to the university by their colleges.
However, the university didn’t let these students fall through the cracks. In a last-minute effort to ensure that their academic pursuits weren’t derailed, a team of officials at MU’s examination department quickly swung into action and generated exam seat numbers for these students. This swift remedial action on the part of the university saved the day for the anxious students.
“Such lapses in responsibility not only disrupt the academic journey of the students but also cast a shadow on the reputation of the institutions involved,” said an official. Mumbai University has decided to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the lapse and hold the colleges accountable for negligence. “Possible repercussions could include penalties and sanctions imposed on these institutions to serve as a deterrent against such lapses in the future,” the official said.
Priyanka Panchal, administrator of Lilavati Lalji Dayal Night College said, “We don’t know what is going on. We haven’t received any communication from the university as of now. According to what I know, the issue has been resolved and students are appearing for their examination.” She refused to share any other information regarding the same.
“Colleges should file the examination applications of students on time and also make the faculty available for evaluation immediately, so that the results of various examinations are declared within the stipulated time,” said Mumbai University Vice-Chancellor Dr Ravindra Kulkarni.
He said, “Stickers and Online Attendance System for accuracy have been introduced from session five exam. In the past, students mentioning incorrect seat numbers and wrong barcodes on their forms have led to a lot of confusion and chaos.”
