Mumbai’s test positivity rate (TPR) improved, while the new cases and Covid-19 fatalities were also low on Saturday.


As per the BMC report, 333 new cases and three deaths were reported on Saturday. The city recorded a TPR of 1 per cent.


On August 19, the city recorded the second wave’s lowest TPR at 0.53 per cent, after which the graph was gradually going up. 


The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 526 people recovered and were discharged on Saturday.

In Mumbai, 22,865 people were administered the first dose of the vaccine, and 52,876 got the second shot.

The new cases in the state fell below 2,000 on Saturday. There was also a marginal drop in COVID-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 1,553 cases were reported along with 26 deaths across the state.

The MMR too, saw a significant drop in new cases. As per the state report, 582 cases were reported in the MMR region, including cases from Mumbai.

Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR region with 44 new cases. It was followed by Thane with 43 cases. While Panvel saw 42 cases, Raigad had 23 cases, and Vasai-Virar witnessed 28 cases.
