After losing its claim on the party office at the Vidhan Bhavan in Nagpur, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has decided to play it safe in Mumbai. Party leader Aaditya Thackeray has asked former corporators to regularly visit the party office in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters to ensure it can stake claim on it.

On the first day of the winter session of the state assembly, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena took possession of the Shiv Sena office on the premises of the Vidhan Bhavan in Nagpur. The speaker allotted another office to the Thackeray-led party. Sources said taking a lesson from this, the Thackeray Sena leader asked their former corporators to regularly visit the party office in BMC. As their terms ended on March 7, former corporators have hardly visited party offices. However, former mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar said, “We regularly visit the party office in BMC. Our former corporators always go to the BMC head office to meet officials to solve civic issues.”

When the corporators’ terms ended there were 97 corporators of the Shiv Sena. After the party split, five former corporators joined the Shinde Sena. These included Yashwant Jadhav, Shital Mhatre, Samadhan Sarvankar, and Parmeshwar Kadam.

According to sources, former minister and Thackeray Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray has asked   former corporators to go to the party’s office at the BMC HQ regularly. The party has also prepared a time table for the former corporators and designated a date and visiting hours for them. It is learnt that from Monday these  former corporators will visit the party office regularly. Former mayors Kishori Pednekar, Vishwanath Mahdeshwar, former standing committee chairman Yashodhar Phanse, and senior corporator Rajul Patel have also been asked to go to the party office at the BMC regularly.
