The number of cases in the city seem to be rising after the number of tests was increased. On Thursday, 279 new Covid-19 cases were detected after 42,524 tests were conducted. There were two deaths. The state registered 877 cases and 19 deaths. There was no new patient of the Omicron variant in the state on Thursday.
The cases rose from 238 on Wednesday with a Test Positivity Rate of 0.66 per cent. The city had reported zero deaths on Wednesday for the third time since the beginning of the pandemic. Both the deceased were above 60 years. The doubling rate rose and was 2,572 days on Thursday. The state saw a rise in new cases and most were registered in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Pune and Nashik regions. As per the state health department report, 877 cases were reported along with 19 deaths across the state. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 632 recovered and got discharged on Thursday. Currently the state has 6,693 active cases.
The MMR saw a rise in cases as Mumbai reported more cases. As per the state report, 420 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 44 new cases. It was followed by 34 cases in Navi Mumbai.
While Kalyan-Dombivli saw 8 cases, Vasai-Virar reported 10 cases each, Raigad saw 14 cases and Thane reported 10 cases. MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered three deaths, one each in Raigad, Panvel and Vasai-Virar.
