Mumbai’s test positivity rate (TPR) has seen a significant rise as it crossed the one per cent mark. It had dipped below one per cent for the first time in the second wave on July 29. On Friday, it rose to 1.01 per  cent. Meanwhile, as per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, the cases stood at 364 and deaths at five.

On August 19, the city recorded the second wave’s lowest TPR at 0.53 per cent, after which the graph has been gradually going up.

The city also saw a marginal dip in new cases along with a dip in Covid-19 fatalities. However, as compared to Thursday, the city saw less testing, resulting in a high TPR.

It was on August 16 that daily cases fell below 200 and the second wave’s lowest cases were recorded.

The city reported the highest number of cases — 11,163 on April 4 and then the declining trend started. There has been a steady fall in the TPR after May 5, when it was recorded at 10.96 per cent.
