After registering test positivity rate (TPR) above 2% on Sunday, the city’s TPR saw a significant drop on Tuesday at 1.76%. The city’s daily new Covid-19 cases also saw a significant drop as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report said there were 562 new cases on Tuesday. The fatalities also dropped with 12 deaths reported across the city.


Mumbai had recorded the lowest TPR (1.76%) on June 22 and single digit fatalities.



The city’s doubling rate has dipped to 721 days. Of the 12 deaths in the city, 11 patients had comorbidities, 8 deaths were in the age group over 60 while 4 deaths were reported in the 40-60 age group. On June 8, the city had reported single digit Covid-19 fatalities for the first time in the second wave.


The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 96 per cent as 629 people recovered and were discharged on Tuesday. 

The state’s new Covid-19 cases saw a significant rise on Tuesday with 8,085 reported. The fatalities in the state were more than double the numbers of Monday at 231 deaths. 

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.1 percent. At least 8,623 people recovered and got discharged on Tuesday. Currently the state has 1.17 lakh active cases.  

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal rise in new cases. The MMR region reported 1,740 cases on Tuesday, including the ones reported in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Panvel with 144 and Raigad with 481 reported the maximum new cases in MMR region. MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 26 Covid-19 fatalities on Tuesday.

‘Proud to be vaccinated’

The WISE - a new age trust - and The Humsafar Trust organised a vaccination camp during the Pride month for the transgender community on Tuesday at Santacruz East. 

On Tuesday the city recorded 97,846 inoculations across the public and private centers. The number of senior citizens inoculated was 9,435. At least 28,820 above the age of 45 were vaccinated  and those inoculated in the age group 18 years to 44 years were 58,307. There was just one case of adverse effect reported at one of the private centers.
