An alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable saved a couple who was about to fall off a train while trying to board from Kalyan station on Friday, RPF officials said.

The DN Godan Covid Special Express ( train no. 01059) was departing from Kalyan railway station when a family of three - Ashfak Mohd Khan (61), his wife and their 25-year-son Abthab Ashfak Khan - were trying to get on the train. On-duty head constable Sheshrao Patil pushed the woman and her husband on the train as they were about to fall off, said railway officials. The son, however, missed the train.

The family, which resides in Bhiwandi, were travelling from Kalyan to Shahganj. Patil, assisted by constable SP Yadav managed to save lives of the couple. Abthab thanked railway police for their courageous act.
