Mumbai on Sunday recorded 118 new cases of Coronavirus, but there were no fatalities because of the respiratory illness, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation update. The city has a total 11,53,417 COVID-19 cases. 


There has been a slight drop in the daily cases, as the BMC reported 146 infections on Saturday. Eighty five per cent of the patients detected with COVID-19 on Sunday were asymptomatic. Only 18 patients had to be hospitalised, and eight of them are on oxygen support, according to the BMC update. 



The toll remained unchanged at 19,738, while the count of recoveries reached 11,32,742 after 167 patients recovered from the infection during the day, the BMC stated.


According to a bulletin issued by the civic body, 4,354 swab samples were tested in a span of 24 hours, taking the total number of tests conducted so far to 1,84,27,306.

The city’s recovery rate stood at 98.2 per cent on Sunday, it stated.

According to the Sunday’s update, only 96 out of 4,691 COVID-dedicated beds are occupied. 

The overall growth rate of the infection in the city is 0.013 per cent for the period between October 15 and October 21, while the doubling rate was 5,453 days, the bulletin stated.

Meanwhile, the BMC has announced that COVID-19 vaccination won’t be held at the government and civic hospitals on October 24 and October 26 in view of Diwali.

However, people can go for vaccination on October 25 and the regular inoculation process will resume from October 27, it was stated. 

The state health department won’t release COVID data until October 26.
