A 32-year-old accused allegedly escaped from Mumbai’s international airport. According to police, while boarding a connecting flight from Delhi to Mumbai and then to Goa, the accused pushed Goa officers and fled the airport. The constables tried to chase him down outside the airport but were unsuccessful. The Mapusa police had taken him into custody from Uttar Pradesh.
The absconding individual is Imad Wasim Khan, 32, from Behat in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was apprehended in a case involving extortion and threats in Mapusa. Sahar police have filed an FIR and launched an investigation. Police officials stated the incident occurred on June 19. Officers from Mapusa police station in Goa had travelled to Uttar Pradesh, where they took Khan into custody. They were returning to Goa via Mumbai when the escape took place.

Constable Sushant Chopdekar from Mapusa police station, also a complainant, said: “After reaching Mumbai airport, I was confused, and a flight attendant instructed us to go to Terminal 1. I did not have sufficient knowledge of how to reach Terminal 2 from Terminal 1. When we reached the departure section, “I was with the accused, and my other officers were gathering information on how to reach Terminal 1. At Gate Number 7, when we arrived, accused Khan pushed me and escaped. I chased him outside the airport. Outside the airport, he got into a four-wheeler. I also stopped this vehicle and pulled him out, but he started fighting with me and injured me. He then escaped in the same vehicle.”
“I immediately informed Sahar police and filed an FIR. Khan is a suspect in a serious case of extortion and threats back in Mapusa,” Chopdekar added. Senior Inspector Dhanajay Sonawane of Sahar police station confirmed, “The accused Khan absconded from Mumbai airport. We have registered an FIR and are actively searching for him.”
