A devastating building collapse in Bhiwandi has left two people dead while five others have suffered injuries. The building consisting of a ground floor and a first floor collapsed near Dhobi Talao Stadium, Darga Road, Bhiwandi in Maharashtra’s Thane in the wee hours on Sunday.


The victims' identities have been confirmed, and rescue operations are being carried out by Thane Disaster Response Force and Bhiwandi Fire Brigade personnel.


At approximately 12:35 AM local time, the building crumbled, leaving seven individuals trapped amidst the rubble, a statement said. The response was swift, with Thane Disaster Response Force personnel arriving on the scene, and Bhiwandi Fire Brigade personnel mobilizing with three fire vehicles.


The deceased have been identified as Uzma Atif Momin, 40 years old and Taslima Mouser Momin, 8 months old.

The rescue operation, led by the Bhiwandi Fire Brigade personnel, has extracted all trapped individuals from the wreckage. The operation concluded at approximately 3:30 AM.

Those injured have been identified as Momin Latif, 65 years old, undergoing treatment at Al Moin Hospital, Bhiwandi; Farzana Abdul Latif, 50 years old, undergoing treatment at Al Moin Hospital, Bhiwandi; Bushra Atif Latif, 32 years old, undergoing treatment at Al Moin Hospital, Bhiwandi; Adima Atif Momin, 7 years old, undergoing treatment at Al Moin Hospital, Bhiwandi and Urusa Atif Momin, 3 years old. She has been discharged after treatment as her condition is stated to be stable.
