Timely action by an alert motorman of the Central Railway (CR) saved the life of a person lying on track between Tilak Nagar and Chembur stations on Saturday.

“The motorman PK Ratnakar was manning a Panvel local train which left CSMT at 2.12 pm on Saturday. He noticed a person lying on the track between Tilak Nagar and Chembur stations. He immediately applied emergency brakes and stopped the train just 10-12 metres before. Passengers helped the motorman take the person away from the track,” said Shivaji Sutar, chief spokesperson, CR.

“Ratnakar’s quick thinking averted any untoward incident. The work done by him is highly commendable. He will be awarded suitably,” added Sutar.
