Mumbai Metro: Finally, Green Line 4 track laying contracts awarded

Finally, much delayed eastern suburb Metro Green Line 4 has moved ahead with work orders for the carshed and track laying in place

Finally, much delayed eastern suburb Metro Green Line 4 has moved ahead with work orders for the carshed and track laying in place.


“Significant progress has been made in the construction of the Mumbai to Thane metro network as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has now appointed a contractor for the construction of the Mogharpada Depot (carshed) in Thane. The depot will serve Mumbai Metro Green Line Routes 4 and 4A, connecting Wadala to Gaimukh. Messrs SEW-VSE (JV) has will be conducting the work with the lowest bid of Rs. 9,05,00,00,000/- for the construction of the depot,” an official said.


“The depot will cover an area of approximately 42.25 hectares at Mogharpada and will include various facilities such as stabling yards, an operational control center, administrative buildings, maintenance and workshop buildings, an auxiliary substation, staff quarters, and other necessary infrastructure. The depot will have 64 stabling lines (32 present & 32 for future provision) 10 inspection bay lines, and 10 workshop lines,” he added.


“In another development, the MMRDA has also approved the tender for laying a ballastless railway track to connect Mulund Fire Station to Gaimukh Station and Depot. Messrs Apurvakriti Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed for this task. The tender for this work was accepted at a cost of 121,55,91,349/, which is 7.29% less than the initial tender amount.

"Mumbai Metro Routes 4 and 4A are vital transportation links connecting two major cities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The construction of the metro line is well underway, and it is essential to build the depot promptly to ensure its availability to the public as soon as possible. The track construction will also commence alongside the depot. We have selected contractors for both tasks, and work will begin shortly," stated MMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, said.

Ganapati special midnight local trains by CR

Central Railway will run 10 suburban special trains between CSMT- Kalyan/Thane/Belapur stations on 29.9.2023 (midnight of 28/29.9.2023) for the benefit of passengers on the occasion of Ganapati immersion (Anant Chaturthi) 2023. These suburban special trains will stop at all stations.

The CSMT-Kalyan Special will leave CSMT at 1.40 am and arrive Kalyan at 3.10 am. The next CSMT-Thane Special will leave CSMT at 2.30 am and arrive Thane at 3.30 am. Yet another CSMT-Kalyan Special will leave CSMT at 3.25 am and arrive Kalyan at 4.55 am.

From Kalyan, the Kalyan-CSMT Special will leave Kalyan at 12.05 am and arrive CSMT at 1.30 am. A Thane-CSMT Special will leave Thane at 1 am and arrive CSMT at 2am, the next Thane-CSMT Special will leave Thane at 2am and arrive CSMT at 3am.

The CSMT-Belapur Special will leave CSMT at 1.30 am and arrive Belapur at 2.35 am. The next CSMT- Belapur Special will leave CSMT at 2.45 am and arrive at Belapur at 3.50 am.

From Belapur side, the Belapur - CSMT Special will leave Belapur station at 1.15 am and arrive CSMT at 2.20 am, the next Belapur - CSMT Special will leave Belapur at 2am hrs and arrive CSMT at 3.05 am.
