Tabish Hussain, 22, the accused, and his associate Abraz Khan were arrested by Unit 09 of the Mumbai Crime Branch, led by Daya Nayak and his team. The accused initially recorded a video showing a pistol and later created a reel, using an audio clip of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, where he stated during a news channel interview, “9 saal jail kaatne ke baad achcha banne ki koi khwahish hi nahi hai jaise hai waise hi theek hai.” (After spending 9 years in jail, I have no desire to reform; I’m content as I am.)
According to the crime branch, the victim in the case had previously filed a rape complaint against the accused. Subsequently, the accused threatened her with dire consequences, indicating his intent to come to Mumbai to harm her. Nayak stated, “We received reliable information, leading to the arrest of the accused and his accomplice from DN Nagar upon their arrival in Mumbai.” During the arrest process, the crime branch recovered both the pistol and the locally-made “desi katta” that was displayed in the video. Additionally, 20 live cartridges and three rampuri knives, along with three live cartridges of a country-made “katta,” were seized from the accused. The investigation revealed that the accused were also plotting a robbery in Mumbai, prompting their arrest under sections of IPC and the Arms Act.
