Local train services had come to an abrupt halt around 4.30 pm on Sunday, disrupting travel between Vashi and Panvel. Operations on the suburban stretch were suspended owing to a technical snag reported between Seawoods Darave and Nerul stations.
Both the UP and Down line train movements were temporarily halted, leaving several commuters stranded and causing significant inconvenience.
Railway officials stated that technical teams were immediately deployed to identify and resolve the issue. Repair work continued late into the evening in an effort to restore normal operations as swiftly as possible.
The Harbour Line is a vital component of Mumbai’s suburban network, linking the city's central business districts to key nodes in Navi Mumbai and beyond. Any prolonged disruption tends to have a cascading impact on road traffic, often leading to heavy congestion on parallel routes.
Authorities had earlier urged commuters to stay informed through official updates and consider alternative travel arrangements. With services now normalised, regular operations are expected to continue without further interruption.
