Two persons died and another suffered serious injuries in separate mishaps on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway on Sunday.

Siddhesh Parab, who was riding pillion on a Yamaha R15, died on the spot after he fell from the Charoti flyover in Dahanu around 10.20 am. The Kasa police said the rider, Sanath Shyamjeet Yadav, had dozed off and hit the sidewall. The Mira Road residents were out on a joyride to Palghar and were returning home at the time. Yadav sustained serious injuries.

In the second incident, Mohnish Raut, a 37-year-old Safala resident, lost his life after a speeding container collided with his bike near Khanivre village, Dahanu, on the busy carriageway. He came from a family that is into construction and other businesses. Raut too had been out for a fun ride towards Palghar with a group of friends, said the police. He was married and the father of two kids. A case has been registered against the unknown driver.

An officer from Kasa police station said many people come with high-end bikes and recklessly ride on the stretch on weekends.
