The fire was doused after one hour and residents were evacuated safely. No one was reported injured, informed the civic official.
As per the information given by the Mumbai Fire Brigade, they received a call around 7.40 pm.
The fire broke out on the second floor of Mehabula building in the Lokhandwala complex, Andheri West.
The fire was extinguished at 8.10 pm.
"But it raises a serious issue of not having a fire station in a crowded area like Andheri. The fire tenders either come from Irla fire station or Oshiwara fire station. The fire tenders reached late to the spot due to traffic jams, rain, and crowd in Lokhandwala market. Though the major incident is averted, it might turn into the worst situation," said Dhaval Shah of the Andheri Lokhandwala Resident Association.
