A 76-year-old woman's dead body was found in a decomposed condition inside her flat at Borivali (East) on Wednesday evening

A 76-year-old woman's dead body was found in a decomposed condition inside her flat at Borivali (East) on Wednesday evening.


Police stated that her husband was also at home who suffered a brain stroke and was taking treatment at home. He was unable to speak, move and walk.


The Borivali police conducted the postmortem and it was found that the woman died of natural cause.


The woman was identified as Sulakshana Shetty (76), who was residing with her husband Bhaskar Shetty (80) at Electa Tower at Borivali East.

Kasturba marg police registered Accidental Report in this matter.

According to the police officials, the incident came to light on Wednesday evening after the smell started spreading in the society, and neighbors informed the police about it. Police rushed to the spot and broke the door and found Sulakshana Shetty's decomposed body from the house.

During the investigation, it has been revealed that the couple had a daughter who presently resides in the USA.

"We have registered an ADR and sent Shetty’s body for the postmortem," said the official.

Police also rescued her husband Bhaskar Shetty from the house and provided medical treatment to him as he was inside the house.

Police said,"Bhaskar suffered a brain stroke a few years ago and due to which his health was not good. His wife was taking care of him. Bhaskar is unable to walk and talk due to his health issues."

"In the postmortem report, Police found that Sulakshana Shetty has died of natural cause and there are no suspicious." said senior inspector Anil Avhad.
