Mumbai: DCP expels repeat offenders to make zone 12 free of crime

To stop the crime in the area, the deputy commissioner of police (DCP), zone 12, Somnath Gharge, has so far, this year, expelled eight professional criminals from the city for a period of one year. The total number of accused expelled last year by Gharge was 81.


Among the expelled accused from zone 12, three are from Dahisar, three from Samtanagar, one from Kasturba Marg, and one from the Dindoshi area. These had dozen of cases against their name including murder, attempt to murder, robbery, extortion and body offences.


The accused have been identified as Suresh Mala alias Neplya, Lakhan More, Suresh alias App Pawar (Dahisar), Rohit alias Ganesh Shinde, Bharat Chopde, Arshad Shaikh (Samtanagar), Subhash Mishra (Kasturba Marg), and Sujeet Sawant alas Chuva (Dindoshi) stations, said an officer.


Accused Mala alas Neplya, 30, from Dahisar has over 24 cases registered against him at the various police stations of the north region police, including Dahisar, MHB and Samtanagar, while Chopde has 11 cases against him, including extortion, kidnapping, and body offences. The remaining expelled accused have over half a dozen criminal cases against them.

“The purpose of expelling these accused was to maintain peace and communal harmony in the area. This is also a message for all criminals that if they do not desist from their antics, then the consequences will be the same,” said DCP Gharge. Meanwhile, 133 criminals were expelled from zone 11 last year. Three have been expelled so far this year. “This process will continue to stop criminal activities in the area,” DCP Vishal Thakur from zone 11 said.
