If everything goes according to plan, Mumbaikars will soon be able to cycle on the Western Express Highway. Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburbs, Aaditya Thackeray, on Sunday said a cycling track will be constructed on the arterial WEH. On Sunday Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray inaugurated one arm of the Kalanagar flyover, and did the bhoomipujan of the Worli-Sewri connector and other projects including a cycle track and a smart parking facility at BKC. Aaditya Thackeray, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, MLA Zeeshan Siddique and Metropolitan Commissioner R A Rajeev were also present on the occasion.

Speaking after the inauguration of the arm of the flyover, CM Thackeray said, "Mumbai is growing day-by-day, hence we need to look at a tech enabled, systematic and sustainable development for the city." Aaditya Thackeray said that the government will refurbish major arterial roads in Mumbai including the WEH and Eastern Express Highway, the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli link road, LBS Marg and Santacruz-Chembur link Road.
"Just as at BKC we will develop a cycle track along the Western Express Highway. Our aim is also to improve the footpaths in Mumbai and all pedestrian crossings," said Aaditya Thackeray. Metropolitan commissioner Rajeev said that that 80% work of the Kalanagar flyover from the sealink to BKC and from Dharavi to the sealink was also complete but progress was delayed due to the pandemic.
