In a shocking incident, a 59-year-old woman was stabbed and robbed at knife point, when she was alone at her Parel home on Friday evening. The police have filed an FIR against two unknown men, said to be in their 20s, for attempt to murder, trespass and theft. No arrests have been made so far.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 7.15 pm on Friday when two men claiming to be from an internet service provider company entered the house of the woman at Parel’s St Paul Street. Finding her alone, they forced a cloth down her throat and coaxed her for a key to the vault.

“They snatched the mangalsutra from my neck and when I refused to disclose any information about the key or the vault, they stabbed me on the left side of my chest,” the woman claimed in her statement to the police. The duo ran from the spot soon after. The mangalsutra weighing 15 gram was worth Rs 50,000.

Displaying exceptional courage, the woman pulled the knife from her chest, shouted for help and crawled towards her mobile phone to intimate her husband about the assault. The woman’s neighbours rushed her to KEM Hospital and the police officer on duty at the hospital informed the Bhoiwada police about the incident.

“As per the complainant’s version, we have filed a case against two unknown men under IPC Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery) 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) and 34 (common intention),” said DCP zone 4 Dr Pravin Mundhe. “We have deputed teams to track down the accused,” he added.
