A 20-year-old man was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment by a special POCSO court for flashing at a nine-year-old girl. The incident took place in January 2019.

According to a report in Times of India, the accused flashed his private parts at the minor girl who was out on the streets while her mother was begging nearby. The accused was immediately caught by passers-by, who handed him over to the police.

In order to seek his conviction, special public prosecutor Geeta Sharma cited evidence of the mother and child. A woman, who helped nab the culprit, deposed and identified the accused before the court.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 7,000 on him, of which Rs 5,000 will be given to the child as compensation at the end of the appeal period.
