A day after mid-day highlighted the use of foul language on a digital traffic advisory board in Goregaon east, the Dindoshi police on Saturday lodged an FIR against unknown hackers who messed with the electronic system. Abusive message had been put out on the board in Marathi—Bghto Kay…L***ya…gadi nit chalav. This is over a month after Powai plaza was targeted similarly and just days after “smoke weed” message appeared at the Haji Ali signal.

While the police started paperwork, BMC officials suspected that a digitally sound gang of hackers was at play, using offensive language on public property around the city, to mock the system. The incident was said to be from Thursday at the BMC installed traffic signal digital advisory board near Oberoi Mall in Goregaon. After making the rounds on social media, as the information reached the police and BMC, the board was shut down immediately. The FIR was registered through Subham Khairnar, a junior engineer at BMC in Goregaon, under section 426 of the IPC (Punishment for mischief) and various sections of the IT Act, 2000.
