The MHB Colony police have registered an FIR against two unknown men who crashed a wedding reception and fled with jewellery worth lakhs, envelopes containing Rs 50,000 and two mobile phones on Friday. The incident was captured by CCTV cameras installed at the venue.

According to the police, the incident took place amid the marriage celebrations of Amruta Ramdas Varankar and Suyash Prakash Kodare at Durga Garden on New Link Road in Borivli West. The bride’s parents had kept the envelopes and gold jewellery inside her makeup room. They locked the room before dinner was served.

The accused had followed the bride’s parents and were lurking near the room. Once the parents were out of sight, one of the accused jumped through an opening above the door and entered the room. Among the stolen jewellery was a pair of earrings worth Rs 40,000.
