Mumbai East Region Cyber Police’s email account has been hacked by an unknown hacker from Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning. The hacker also sent phishing emails to several citizens which stated, “Terrorist behind Jammu and Kashmir gunned down in Mumbai.” Mumbai Cyber Police immediately issued a circular requesting citizens to not open the email. Cyber Police have started investigations, but are yet to make an arrest. Experts are recovering all mails from the id—eastcyber.mum@mahapolice.gov.in.

Is this mail harmful to citizens? DCP Shintre replied, “Yes, it’s harmful. If anyone clicks the PDF link in the email, the hacker will hack the data of the laptop or computer or mobile phone in seconds. We request people to not open the email sent from our official email id.”
