In a major breakthrough, the Mumbai Crime Branch's Unit 9, headed by Senior Police Inspector Daya Nayak, has made a significant drug bust, confiscating a substantial quantity of Mephedrone (MD) valued at around Rs 2,04,00,000. Acting on reliable intelligence, the operation unfolded as the police received information regarding the possession of a commercial amount of the synthetic stimulant Mephedrone by two suspects, Salim Haroon Rashid Khan and Imran Shoeb Khan.

“The dedicated team from Unit 9 swiftly mobilized to Adamji Jeevaji Chawl, Sewree Cross road, near Mukaddas Masjid, Sewree, Mumbai 15, where the suspects were reportedly located,” said Raj Tilak Roushan, DCP, Detection 1.

While one of the suspects, Imran Shoeb Khan, managed to elude the police, Salim Haroon Rashid Khan was promptly apprehended at the scene. During the operation, Khan was found in possession of a substantial quantity of Mephedrone, specifically weighing 1028 grams. This amount is categorized as a commercial quantity under the law. The seized contraband holds an estimated international market value of Rs 2,04,00,000. The operation was initiated based on information received by Senior Inspector Daya Nayak.

The case has been officially registered by R. A. K. Marg Police Station under Sections 8(C), 22(C), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, which have been invoked in the case. The other suspect, Imran Shoeb Khan, around 30 years old and a resident of the Sewree area, is currently evading law enforcement and remains at large. A thorough manhunt is underway to apprehend him.

“This successful operation marks a significant achievement in the Mumbai Crime Branch's ongoing efforts to combat the distribution and usage of illegal substances within the city. As the investigation continues, additional details are expected to emerge as the case unfolds,” Roushan added.
