Mumbai’s Covid-19 cases rise a little but fatalities stay the same

After witnessing a drop in test positivity rate over the weekend, the city’s TPR saw a rise but it remained below 1 per cent. While the number of COVID-19 fatalities remained the same, new cases saw a marginal rise on Sunday. Mumbai’s TPR was 0.95 per cent. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 315 new cases were reported along with three deaths. Two of them had comorbidities. All the three deceased were above 60 years of age.


The doubling rate improved to 1,567 days on Sunday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 429 people recovered and were discharged on Sunday.  In the state, the new cases saw a marginal rise but the COVID-19 fatalities were less than Saturday. As per the state health department report, 1,172 cases were reported along with 20 deaths.



The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 1,399 recovered and got discharged on Sunday. Currently the state has 16,658 active cases.  The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal drop in new cases. As per the state report, 515 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai. 


Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 43 new cases. It was followed by Kalyan-Dombivli with 30 cases each. While Panvel saw 11 cases each, Raigad had 15 cases, Vasai-Virar witnessed 22 cases.  MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered six deaths.  All the six deaths were reported in Kalyan-Dombivli.
