It’s common for residents to collect the debris that is generated during Diwali renovations in small gunny bags, which leads to the society taking objection and fining homeowners for the same. But BMC has come up with a solution. The civic  body has announced that it will collect this debris after Diwali. This scheme has received a good response in the ‘F’ ward of the Matunga Central area.

Speaking with mid-day, F ward Assistant Commissioner Gajanan Bellale said, “According to the policy, debris can’t be thrown in the garbage van. If anyone is caught, the BMC will fine them. The Deonar dumping ground has a placed reserved for such debris, and the BMC has appointed contractors to collect it. Many societies are opting for this scheme.“

F Ward Solid Management Department Assistant Engineer Sachin Gaikwad said, “Citizens can take benefit of this scheme. We have sent pamphlets to all residents so that they can get the contact number of all contractors.”
