A day before the partial launch of two 10-km stretches of Mumbai Metro Yellow Line 2A and Red Line 7, the BEST undertaking on Friday said they had 76 connecting bus routes ready, including two new routes, for them.

"For metro connection, BEST has 27 routes for Line 2A (Dahisar-DN Nagar) and 49 routes for line 7 (Andheri East-Dahisar East). Two new routes will start, one each for Line 2 A and line 7," BEST General Manager Lokesh Chandra told mid-day.

“The BEST undertaking has been trying to keep pace with the changing public transport needs of the fast-paced city,” Chandra said.
BEST officials said they were making an effort to sync the bus route timetable with the Metro timetable as a feeder service to Mumbai Metro lines as they open one by one. This is a larger way to encourage public transport in the city.

MMRDA officials said they had done multi-modal integration at Metro stations and the BEST undertaking buses that will be operated as feeder services, will prove to be of big help for commuters for last mile connectivity.
