The daily COVID-19 cases in the city continued to drop on Tuesday, amid festivities, with the BMC recording 32 fresh cases. The total tally of Coronavirus cases rose to 11,53,502, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s updated bulletin.


Of the 32 people who tested positive, 78 per cent patients were asymptomatic. Seven patients were hospitalised and five of them were put on oxygen support. The daily cases are on the decline since Sunday. 



The toll remained unchanged at 19,738, while the count of recoveries reached 11,32,966 after 128 patients recovered from the infection.


The city’s recovery rate was reported at 98.2 per cent on Tuesday, and the total number of active cases was at 798.

According to a bulletin issued by the civic body, 1,738 swab samples were tested in a span of 24 hours, taking the total number of tests conducted so far to 1,84,32,428. On Monday, 3,384 samples were tested and 53 of them were found positive for COVID-19.

The overall growth rate of the infection in the city was 0.012 per cent for the period between October 18 and October 24, while the doubling rate was 6,047 days, the bulletin stated.

Of the 4,691 beds dedicated for COVID-19 patients, only 101 are occupied, according to the BMC’s Tuesday bulletin.
