The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has witnessed a remarkable performance in terms of passenger traffic for the month of June 2023. The airport observed a 107 per cent recovery in passenger traffic in June this year, as compared to June 2019.

The passenger traffic observed in the month of June records an approximate total of 4.19 million passengers - with arrivals comprising approximately 2.14 million and departures comprising 2.04 million passengers.
CSMIA observed a 33 per cent growth in total passenger numbers in June 2023, compared to June 2022. Additionally, with 1.1 million international passengers, CSMIA witnessed 39 per cent growth, in comparison to 0.8 million same period last year.
According to the CSMIA, they observed a significant rise in Air Traffic Movements (ATMs). June 2023 alone recorded a total of 26,459 ATMs, thereby strengthening its position as a cornerstone of the aviation industry.
Delhi emerged as the topmost domestic travel destination, with 499,916 passengers. This was closely followed by Bangalore and Chennai, augmenting Mumbai Airport's undisputed status as a premier gateway, providing non-stop and seamless connections to prominent cities across the country.
Considering the international arena, Dubai continued to be ranked as the top destination with 197,206 passengers, encompassing both arrivals and departures. London Heathrow and Abu Dhabi also catered to a high number of passengers ranking amongst the top three. Additionally, in the same period Middle East led the region wise traffic share with 36 per cent share, followed by Australia (22 per cent), Europe (18 per cent) and North America (16 per cent).
On June 10, 2023, CSMIA witnessed significant passenger movement, with the highest daily traffic recorded with 148,981 passengers travelling through the airport. This includes 107,939 domestic passengers while international travellers stood at 41,042.

Top Airlines serving the highest international passenger numbers were IndiGo, Air India, and Emirates.
