The Mumbai Region Post Office launched 8 am-to-8 pm service at 60 post offices in the city and suburbs on October 9, which is celebrated as World Post Day. The services will continue on a permanent basis and have been launched keeping in mind the office hours of Mumbaikars who face difficulties in fulfilling their postal needs after their job.

“The 8-8 post offices will also facilitate financial transactions. The savings bank transaction counters, multi-purpose counter machines and stamp sale and enquiry counters, which were earlier in operation for five hours, six to seven hours and eight hours respectively, will now be available for 12 hours,” Postmaster General Swati Pandey told mid-day. A QR code will give you the names and details of the post offices that will be working 8-8.

“The extended working hours of the post offices will lead to a seamless and smooth experience for customers who are uncomfortable going out during the period of extreme October heat in Mumbai. The QR code on the official pamphlet will give the details and names of all the post offices that will be working at extended hours,” Pandey said. The Mumbai Post is a busy region with 5,290 employees and 2,62,867 transactions on an average daily.
