Due to what appears to be a glitch in the Aarogya Setu app, 60-70 people went to the Chembur-based SRV Hospital on Saturday to get vaccinated after registering and taking an appointment through the app. However, the drive at the centre has been stopped amid the vaccine shortage and the group of people, belonging to the 45 years and above group, had to return without the shot.

People from Ghatkopar, Goregaon, Thane, Ghodbunder Road and other areas of the city rushed to the centre between 3 pm to 6 pm on Saturday. Heated arguments occurred outside SRV Hospital. The hospital appeared in the list of available centres in the app even though its drive is suspended amid vaccine shortage.

Ghatkopar resident Kunjan Shah said, “For the past several days, I have been struggling to get vaccine for my 76-year-old mother-in-law, Lataben Ramniklal Shah. Finally, we booked an appointment through Aarogya Setu at SRV Hospital, Chembur between 3 pm and 6 pm. We rushed to the hospital where 60-70 people were waiting at the main gate. The hospital had put up a notice that they are out of stock.”

SRV Hospital’s administrator Sagar Patil said, “We gave more than 1,000 people the first dose when the drive was on. But we haven’t received more stock from the authorities. We haven’t got vaccines since April 26. On Saturday, many people rushed to our centre after booking appointments on Aarogya Setu. We requested people to return. If we get stock by Monday, we will call them for the vaccine.”
