A four-year-old boy drowned in a drum filled with water at his house in Chembur on Monday. According to police, the incident took place in Nalanda Nagar in Chembur. The deceased has been identified as Devansh Ghatvisave.

On Monday afternoon, Devansh’s mother Urmila Ghatvisave had gone out to buy groceries and her niece Mayuri Gaikwad (15) was sleeping in the house. When Urmila returned, she did not see the boy anywhere in the house. Finally, she found him in the bathroom with his head in a drum of water and legs sticking out.

The boy was rushed to Sion Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Chembur police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR). A police official said they were informed about the incident by the Sion Hospital staff.

Senior police inspector Shalini Sharma told mid-day, “The police have registered an ADR in this matter and further investigation is on.”
