The administrator of Dadra and Nagar Haveli Praful Patel, the collector of Daman Sandeep Kumar Singh, former superintendent of police Sharad Darade, and a few politicians are among a dozen people who have been named in the FIR.
“The FIR has been registered at Marine Drive Police station late on Tuesday night,” confirmed Mohan Delkar’s son Abhinav.
“There are nearly a dozen people, including Praful Patel, Sharad Darade, Sandeep Singh and a few politicians, who have been named in the FIR. They have been booked for abetment, extortion, atrocities, etc. Besides these, other multiple charges have also been levelled against the accused in the FIR,” Abhinav told mid-day.
“The prime accused in the FIR is Praful Patel but there are several government officials and local politicians who had been harassing my father,” he added.
The FIR was registered after Delkar’s son met Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, home minister Anil Deshmukh and other politicians in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Delkar (58), a seven-term MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli Union Territory, was found dead in a hotel in Marine Drive area of south Mumbai on February 22.
A long suicide note, written in Gujarati, was recovered from his room. In the suicide note, he held many high profile personalities responsible for harassing him.
The leader is survived by his wife and two children. The seven-time MP was born in December 1962 in Silvassa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
On Tuesday, Anil Deshmukh had announced that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will probe the alleged suicide of Delkar.
Deshmukh had said in the state Assembly that Delkar's suicide note stated that the Union Territory's administrator Praful Kheda Patel was harassing the MP.
