A late-night incident in Vasai East turned into a scene of chaos and destruction as a speeding driver in a red car collided with a road divider, uprooting three trees and causing significant damage to the vehicle. The reckless driver, who is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol, fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of wreckage.

The incident occurred during the late hours of Wednesday in Vasant Nagari, Vasai East. The driver was not only over speeding but was also driving on the wrong side of the road, resulting in a collision with the road divider. The force of the impact was so severe that it uprooted three trees along its path and left the car in shambles. The car's engine was extensively damaged, and the rear windshield was shattered, a traffic police official said.

Following the accident, the driver, who appeared to be injured, made a hasty escape from the scene, leaving the damaged vehicle behind. It was only the next morning that the Vasai traffic police were alerted to the incident.

Sachin Mohane, the head constable of Vasai Traffic Police, suspects that the driver had been intoxicated at the time of the crash, given the reckless nature of the incident. Mohane explained, "It appears that the driver was drunk. The car was traveling at an alarmingly high speed, initially colliding with the divider and subsequently uprooting three trees." He also noted, "The car's engine suffered severe damage, and the airbag was deployed due to the impact, leading to blood stains on it."

The vehicle involved in the incident is registered to an individual named Poonam Shukla, who claims to have no knowledge of the accident. Authorities are now searching for the driver, believing that he may have sought medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

The Achole police have been notified of the incident, and the process of registering a First Information Report (FIR) is currently underway. Meanwhile, the Fire Brigade has dispatched officials to the scene to remove the damaged trees and clear the area.
