Maharashtra school education minister Varsha Eknath Gaikwad on Tuesday tested positive for Covid-19.

Announcing on Twitter, she said, “I learned today that I tested positive for Covid-19 after first feeling symptoms yesterday evening. My symptoms are relatively mild. I'm fine and have isolated myself. Request those who met me the past few days to take precautions”.

A total of 6,358 new Covid-19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload in the country to 75,456, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.
Maharashtra on Monday reported 1,426 fresh coronavirus cases, including 26 new Omicron patients - daily count down 222 from a day ago - while 21 more persons succumbed to the infection in the the state, the health department said.
