Union Minister of State Kapil Patil, who lost the election from the Bhiwandi Lok Sabha constituency, also failed to get a lead in the Mahayuti’s Assembly segments. As a result, the BJP-dominated Bhiwandi saw the two-time MP lose to NCP (SP) candidate Suresh ‘Balya Mama’ Mhatre. Mhatre got 4.99 lakh votes (39.85 per cent) while Patil secured 4.33 lakh votes (34.57 per cent). In the 2019 election, Patil got 5.23 lakh votes, which amounted to 52.09 per cent vote share.

In the Shahapur Assembly constituency, with Daulat Daroda (NCP) as the MLA, Mhatre got 54,701 votes while Patil got 43,521. In Bhiwandi Rural, where Shantaram More (Shiv Sena) is the MLA, Patil led by only 8,072 votes, securing 83,402 votes as against Mhatre’s 75,330. In 2019, Patil got 1.11 lakh votes from the same constituency, while Congress candidate Suresh Taware managed to get 53,669 votes. In that election, Patil received double the number of votes as compared to the Congress candidate from Bhiwandi Rural.

In the Bhiwandi West Assembly constituency, Mhatre got double the votes of Patil. The NCP (SP) candidate got 1.08 lakh votes while Patil got 47,787 votes. Mahesh Choughule of the BJP is the MLA of the constituency. The situation was similar in Bhiwandi East, where Mhatre got 1.08 lakh votes and Patil secured 45,372 votes. These two constituencies largely helped Mhatre defeat Patil. Rais Shaikh of Samajwadi Party is the MLA of Bhiwandi East.

Meanwhile, in Kalyan West and Murbad Assembly constituencies, Patil got a lead of more than 20,000 votes. The BJP secured 1.05 lakh votes while the NCP (SP) got 74,129 votes.
