On the occasion of 'Vijaya Dashmi' or 'Dussehra,' devotees thronged the Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi, Maharashtra, to celebrate the festival. As the temple priests conducted 'Pooja' ceremonies, devotees enthusiastically chanted 'Sai Baba ki Jai.'

Shirdi is renowned as the home of the revered spiritual leader, Sai Baba, making it one of the most prominent pilgrimage sites for Hindus. Devotees flock to the temple daily, forming long queues to catch a glimpse of 'Sai Baba.'

Today, the country is celebrating Dussehra, commemorating the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. However, in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, there is a unique temple dedicated to the worship of Ravana for his 'intellect.'

The Dashanan Temple in Kanpur believes that Ravana was an exceptionally knowledgeable priest, though his arrogance led to his defeat against Lord Rama. On the occasion of Dussehra, the Dashanan Temple opened its doors for devotees to pay their respects to Ravana.

"We open this temple today and worship Ravana today on the day of Dussehra, and then in the evening after burning the effigy, we close this temple. It only opens on the day of Dussehra...We worship him for his knowledge," explained Dashanan temple purohit Ram Bajpai.

'Dussehra' or 'Vijaya Dashmi' is celebrated to symbolize the victory of good over evil, marking the conclusion of the nine-day-long Navratri festival. It falls on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin, the seventh in the Hindu Luni-Solar Calendar, typically corresponding to the Gregorian calendar months of September and October.

This festival also initiates the preparations for Diwali, the significant festival of lights, celebrated twenty days after Vijayadashami.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) members organised 'Path Sanchalan" (route march) on the occasion of RSS Vijayadashami Utsav on Tuesday.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and Padma Shri Shankar Mahadevan, who has been invited as the chief guest, were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, while speaking to ANI, Shankar Mahadevan extended Vijayadashami greetings to everyone and said that he was privileged to be welcomed as a chief guest at the RSS Vijayadashami Utsav.

"I want to extend my greetings to everyone on the occasion of Vijayadashami. I am very honoured and privileged that I have been welcomed as a chief guest at this function. I want to thank the RSS chief, Mohan Bhagwat and the entire Swayamsevak Sangh family...I am very excited to attend this program..." he told ANI.

The Vijayadashmi Utsav will also be addressed by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, is a prominent Hindu festival celebrated every year at the end of Navaratri.

It is observed on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin, the seventh in the Hindu Luni-Solar Calendar. The festival typically falls in the Gregorian calendar months of September and October.
