A 25-year-old man was saved from drowning after he allegedly jumped into a water body in Thane district with his car, seemingly with the intent to end his life, the officials said on Tuesday evening.

According to information received at the Disaster Management Room, the incident was reported to the Fire Control Room at around 4:30 PM. The individual involved in the incident is a resident of Thane. He allegedly took his car to the location and, along with the vehicle, jumped into the water of the creek.

They said that the man swam to him and successfully pulled him to safety.

The local authorities responded promptly to the incident. Police personnel from Kapurbawadi police station and the disaster management team, along with a pickup vehicle, were dispatched to the scene. Additionally, firefighters arrived with an emergency tender to assist in the rescue operation. No injuries were reported in the incident, the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) said in a statement.
