Juhu-Koliwada locals still get contaminated water

For over a month, residents of Juhu Koliwada, are getting filthy water

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been unable to find the source of contamination of water in Juhu yet, and residents of Juhu Koliwada continue to get filthy water. mid-day had highlighted the issue on Monday. Around 100 to 120 families living in Juhu Koliwada have been receiving the contaminated water for the past month.

Locals claim that despite complaints to the ward office and posts on social media posts tagging the civic body, there has been no progress.

“A BMC team visited the area on November 2 and told us another team will come, but as the Diwali vacation began, no one turned up,” said a resident.

After repeated complaints on social media, another BMC team came last Friday and assured the people that the problem will be solved within two to three days. But the issue persists. “A BMC team came with a camera to locate the leakages and contamination on November 26, but couldn’t find it. So the issue is still unresolved,” said Larson Fernandes, resident.

“Our team went to the site, and we are trying to solve the issue. The drainage line was overflowing and the water pipeline is under it. We have asked for the removal of the sewage,” said an engineer from K west ward.

While the BMC has claimed there is a significant reduction in water contamination, it receives around 2,000 complaints a year regarding this.
