State finally announces the 30:30:40 model of weightage for performance from three previous years for Std XII students

Following in the footsteps of the CBSE, the Maharashtra State Board has decided to evaluate HSC students based on the 30:30:40 marking formula. The school education department announced the same on Friday evening and issued a Government Resolution (GR). As per the formula, the HSC results will be declared based on students’ marks in Std X, XI and XII and weightage to scores of each class will be given based on the formula.

State School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has appealed to the authorities concerned to work on declaring the results by July 31.
As explained in the GR, for Std X marks, the best three subject scores from the total will be considered, for Std XI it would be the final exam marks, and for Std XII marks obtained by students in internal assessments, vivas, prelims, practice tests among all will be considered.

Extraordinary year
Through a video message, School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said, “This has been an extraordinary academic year. Considering the health of students, the HSC exams were cancelled and discussions were held with all educationists to decide on how the results would be declared. If any students are unhappy with the scores given based on the new formula, they will get a chance to appear for regular exams when the pandemic situation gets better.”
She further said, “I appeal to all teachers, principals and others involved in the process to work towards declaring the results by July 31.”
Exam cancelled in May
The HSC exams, which were supposed to be held in May, were cancelled. However, post the announcement of cancellation, there was no clarity on how the results would be declared. Even as many had anticipated that the state was likely to follow the CBSE route as it did for the Secondary School Certificate results, students were under stress due to lack of clarity.
