Taking serious note of the article published in mid-day, where former MMRDA Commissioner RA Rajeev had slammed the MMRDA over bad traffic management at DN Nagar junction, the infrastructure body has opened the section of the road, which has been closed for a while now.

In mid-day’s November 2 report (Mumbai: Ex-chief takes dig at MMRDA over traffic at DN Nagar junction), former MMRDA chief RA Rajeev had highlighted the traffic mess between the proposed DN Nagar Metro station and Link Road in Andheri West. The ex-bureaucrat cited the need for coordination to lessen the inconvenience caused to the public in an apparent dig at  the infrastructure body.

With Metro 2A—Dahisar to DN Nagar—under construction, civil work has been in progress at many locations. As a result, vehicular movement gets hampered, triggering huge congestion, particularly during morning and evening peak hours. To complete the work at the DN Nagar Metro station on Metro line 2A, the MMRDA had blocked about 300 metres on the north-bound stretch of the New Link Road near DN Nagar junction which was leading to massive traffic jams.

Rajeev’s post prompted other citizens to highlight similar problems at other spots due to work on Metro 2A.  Post the mid-day report, MMRDA opened the north bound stretch of the road. Hiren Patel, a commuter, said, “I’m happy to see that the Metro authorities have opened the road. It will not just save commuters’ time and fuel, but also reduce the traffic jam at the junction.”
