At least 20 incidents of fire were reported in Thane and Palghar districts of Maharashtra on Diwali, most of them due to bursting of crackers, but no one was injured, officials said on Tuesday.

Chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC)'s Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), Avinash Sawant, said no one was injured in the fire-related incidents.

Of the total incidents, 11 were reported in Thane and nine in its adjoining district of Palghar, he said.

Two scrap godowns were gutted in separate incidents in Bhiwandi taluka of Thane district, he said.

Six fire-related incidents were reported in Vasai taluka of Palghar district alone, one of which occurred in a godown storing footwear, the official said.

Most of the blaze-related incidents were caused due to bursting of firecrackers on the festival of lights on Monday, he said.
